Match Report - 18 Sep 2010, Western Wildcats Hockey Club Men 5 beat GHK 3
A good win for the 5's in this game, we quickly took a 2-0 lead in the game withing the first 5-10 mins only to then loose 2 quick goals to bring the game level back to 2-2 after a couple of defensive errors. We then scored another two goals to take a 4-2 lead into half time with the best solo goal of the game coming from Stuart O'Toole when after not being able to get a short corner converted quickly he ended up taking on 3 of the defenders and getting round them all before putting the ball into the goal. In the second half we started to control the game even more and scored another 5 goals most of them coming from great passing play by all the younger players on the field as we ended up almost play a 5-5 formation with the adults staying back and letting the younger ones play the ball about between themsevles.
Jonathon was unlucky not to get in on the goals with his best chance being stopped on the line by the defence with thier feet which gave us a pf which Gavin converted.
Everyone played well thoughout the whole match so i'm not going to single out any one player as man of the match. I would also like to think those players and parents who came down to watch all or part of the match and also to the injured Cameron Laws who helped run the subs bench for me and running the team from the sideline.
