Match Report - 02 Oct 2010, Western Wildcats Hockey Club Men 5 beat Giffnock 3

This was another good win for the 5th team, everyone played well, and could have been won by a few more goals, for the first 15 mins or so we seemed to be camped in the giffnock 25 for the most part with ball hardly ever getting into the western half of the pitch. The first goal came from a sweeping reverse shot from Colin Douglas and was the only goal of the first half. After the half time team talk from Ali T we decided to change formation from 4-4-2 to 4-3-3 to try and put more pressure on the giffnock defense and try and get some more goals. this eventually ended up working with us scoring a couple of goals in the second half. The first of those 2 came after a good move down the right with gavin braking into the d and hitting a shot which the keeper saved only for it to fall to Cameron who then passed the ball back to gavin again to score at the second attempt. The 3rd goal came after i broke down a giffnock attack, passed the ball onto Stuart O'T, who then paseed it onto Andrew T, who did a 1-2 with gaving before going into the d and squaring it to Cameron who had a tap. There were a couple of people making thier debut today, with Murray making his first appearance for the 5's, unfortunatley with our defense being so strong he only had 2 touches of the ball the whole game so wasn't really tested at all. The other debut was by Alex Winn who started on the bench and then came on in his usual center back position and play exrtremly well there breaking up several attacks and winning the ball and passing it on to good affect.
