Match Report - 23 Oct 2010, Western Wildcats Hockey Club Men 5 lost to Gordonians
This was always going to be a tough game for the 5's playing a team who had won their district title the last 2 years, and normally getting to the latter rounds of the cup. Things started off ok, but then Gordonians struck on the break after one of our attacks, and Alan Botter scored the opening goal tapping in from about a foot out as he was left unmarked in the middle of the goal. Their next 2 goals came from short corners, the latter was a bit contensious due to the ball striking Michael on the hand which should have been blown up for a foul but wasn't and Gordonians eventually managed to get the ball in the goal. This was Michael's last part in the game as he had to go off due to the pain in his hand, and also the last act of the half. The second half was played better by ourselves, and we managed to get a goal from a short corner scored by Logan after good play. We also had gavin green card for a bad challenged, with some players not even noticing he was off for 2 mins. He was then later ordered off by the team before he talked himself into another card. I would have to say thanks to Niall for his stability he brought to the team in yet another return from injury, and well done to everyone for the performance and credible result we got from the game.
