Match Report

Match Report - 05 Nov 2011, Western Wildcats Hockey Club Men 6 drew with Helensburgh 2

Well this was a game of a few firsts today, one we had another player making his debut for the team in the form of Cameron Wallace who played well in both striker and center mid at times. We also had our first goals and point of the season with this result.

The match unfortunatley didn't start that well with myself conceeding a short after only 3 mins for one of a number of fouls that could have been given as Helensburgh broke into our circle for the first time. Speedy just couldn't get down in time to the hard short that went into the goal. A few mins later we found ourselves 2 down with Helensburgh hitting us on the break again. After this we managed to regain our composure and start playing a bit better hockey. Cammy M was doing well on the right with his pace terrifying the helensburgh defence at times and once we managed to get him to go down the outside things got better for us down that side. We managed to get some coners of our own and near the end of the half from one of these Ali T scooped the ball into the goal with the helensburgh goalie for some reason moving his hand out of the way of the ball and the umpire then confused as by not giving the goal at first but we managed to sort things out and it was 1-2. In the second have we were much more on top of the game, but Helensburgh did have thier chances too. We managed to get a succession of short corners at which I think Stuart O'T got his goal, I think it was from a corner but may have been open play. We also managed to hit the post and have some other chances too. The youngsters again did well up front and made good passes when they had the ball.

Team line up today:

Speedy,

Stu D, Richard B, Murray L, Robbie R,

Cameron M, Ali T, Stu O'T, Ewan M,

Lewis Murray, Cameron W,

Sub: Kyle B
