Match Report - 26 Nov 2011, Western Wildcats Hockey Club Men 6 beat Giffnock 3
Another game first, for even better resons this week. First clean sheet and more importantly first win which lifts us off the bottom of the league. The team yet again was loaded with our juniors who are preforming well.
With myself out umpiring the 3's it was left to Niall and Ali to do the team talk and organise the tactics for the game. This i'm guessing work with the outcome of the game. Play flowed from one end to the other throughout the game. The breakthrough came part way through the first have from a short corner with Lachlan putting the ball out to Niall who struck it into the bottom right corner. Later on we had another corner that was played to Luke who hit a shot into the goal unfortunatley the ball was above the backboard so the goal didn't count.
The second half continued much in the same way as the first with the ball going from end to end. Giffnock thought they had a goal for themselves from a short corner however it ended up getting chalked off for entering the goal above backboard height despite the ball eventualy hitting the back board.
Pat I think had his quitest game in goal with the backline defending well for teh most part and the giffnock finishing not going on target that often, but he did have to pull off a good save with his stick at one point. Standouts for the juniors today would have to be Luke and Laclan again combining well in center and right mid. Ronan also did very well playing his first game at right back for us.
