Match Report - 03 Dec 2011, Western Wildcats Hockey Club Men 5 lost to Greenock 2
A 10 man fives squad travelled to Greenock in somewhat inclement weather conditions. However we did not allow the man disadvantage to dampen our spirits. Despite holding our own we weren't looking like we were going to score and at half time were two-nil down. After the restart we won our only penalty corner of the game. Martin Jennings injected to Niall Sturrock who put it straight back to Jennings who put the ball into the bottom right. This reinvigorated the fives into action. After Greenock fouled on a short corner Martin Jennings took the free hit to himself, surprising everybody, he dribbled all the way to their D every time winning the foul and taking the advantage. Then one on one with the keeper slotted it effortlessly into the bottom left. The tie was held until about 10 minutes to go Western just had nothing left in the tank and lost a disheartening goal after what appeared to be a back stick and not long after a deserving winner which screamed into the goal. A fair enough result after an admirable performance against a very talented opposition.
