It was another hard luck story on Saturday as the Men's 1s lost 3-2 to Grange in Edinburgh.
Western played very well in what was an excellent game. They led 1-0 through an Andrew McConnell corner strike before Grange equalised with a corner of their own for 1-1 at half time. Hamish Galt put Western back in front and the boys had Grange on the back foot for the bulk of the second half.
The visitors' failure to capitalise on their pressure cost them when Grange equalised from another corner. The home sode were then awarded a very harsh looking corner from which Western conceded a stroke. Grange scored it and went into the final.
Yesterday, Menzieshill pulled off a shock 3-1 victory against Grange to take the EHL place. Uddingston relegated a poor Dundee Wanderers side with a 6-1 demolition. Edinburgh University beat Western Ladies in the women's competition while Grange beat Inverleith in the relegation play-off.
