The Men's 1s had a solid weekend with two comfortable wins achieved despite not really hitting the heights.
They were always comfortable in their 4-2 win over Hillhead on Saturday, going two up through Hamish Galt and Fraser Calder before Hillhead pulled one back. They re-established their two goal lead before half-time with Galt again roofing a corner. Andrew MacAllister scored a ferocious goal midway through the second half before Hillhead got a a second near the end.
Yesterday, they huffed and puffed their way to a 3-1 cup win over Dundee Wanderers who were well organised and inspired by an excellent goalkeeper. Galt again scored a corner and Andrew McConnell's lovely run and finish made it two before half-time. Wanderers pulled one back against the run of play before Adam MacKenzie put the game to bed with an excellent penalty corner strike.
The Women's 1s did brilliantly to see off Hillhead 2-0 despite missing seven players including four internationalists. Emily Powers opened the scoring in the first half before Kate Holmes doubled their advantage from the spot in the second half. Yesterday they lost on penalties to Watsonians in the cup.
The Men's 2s misery continued with losses in the league to Clydesdale 2s (3-2) and in the cup to Kelburne 2s (3-0). The 3s motored on, though. They beat East Kilbride 5-1 on Saturday before a magnificent win on penalties last night in the Reserve Plate. Devan Miller's goalkeeping was very much to the fore in this one with some outstanding saves in the shoot out.
