The Men's 1st Team season ended on Saturday with an 8-3 defeat to Grange in the Scottish Cup semi-final. Western went 2-0 down early on but insipired some hope by clambering back to 2-2. Grange scored another two before half-time, though and Western never really recovered. The second half became something of a procession with Grange racking up the goals and Western unable to respond.
This means that - once more - it is up to the Men's 3s to bring home silverware to Auchenhowie on cup final day. They played some excellent hockey in their 5-0 defeat of Clydesdale 3s. Roddy MacCallum (2), Glenn Anderson, Vishal Marwaha and Matthew Martin scored their goals. They play Kelburne 4s at Glasgow Green this Saturday in the Reserve Plate Final (1000).
