And so it begins. The West District leagues' gears slowly begin to turn on Saturday and we have four sides in action.
The Men's 3s - treble winners extraordinaire last season - host Clydesdale 3s (1200) in what is likely to be a hard fought game. Between injuries, children's birthday parties and the fourth day of the Old Trafford test, Western are missing one or two experienced bodies. However, they still have a capable looking squad, especially in view of the progress made by their youngsters in the past few months.
The 4s are away to Hillhead 6s (1400) and, though they too are missing bodies, look in good shape. This is very much a team to watch this season and they will be confident going into their game at Old Anniesland.
The 5s are at home to Oban (1500) and this is likely to be a tough game. The 5s have a few faces returning from various sabbaticals, though, so they'll no doubt put up a good showing.
Finally, the Women's 3s are at home to Ardrossan (1330) and will be keen to get off to a winning start in view of how hard they have been working in pre-season training these past few weeks.
Elsewhere, the Men's 1s play Clydesdale at Glasgow Green in a friendly (1200). The 2s don't have a game and neither do the Women's 1s but the Women's 2s have a friendly against Glasgow Accies.
