With the outdoor season drawing to its winter hiatus, attention now turns to The Indoors.
On Saturday the Men’s 1s kick off their campaign with three games at Bells. They play Kelburne (1010), Grange (1350) and Dundee Wanderers (1635) and how they perform in these fixtures should give us an idea of their potential to repeat their Scottish Championship of 2019. Certainly, if they take their outdoor form into the indoor season, they should challenge strongly.
The 2s benefit from the withdrawal of Menzieshill 2s from national competition with their late inclusion in Division 2. Their campaign begins on Saturday with games against Inverleith 2s (1150) and FMGM Monarchs (1530) at The Peak in Stirling.
The Women’s 1s are at Bells and their games are on Sundays. This weekend they face Hillhead (1010), Watsonians (1350) and Edinburgh University (1635) in what looks like a tasty opening round of fixtures. The girls have put together some very decent outdoor form in the past few weeks, though, so confidence should be high in the camp.
The format this year is designed to accommodate any problems thrown up by Covid. Each team will play the others once during December. Should the worst happen, the placings in this will stand. If not, we split into the usual pools in January followed by the Gala weekend in February.
We still have the odd outdoor fixture remaining. On Saturday, the 4s host Uddingston 5s (1630) and the 5s are due to play East Kilbride at 1200.
