WOMEN OFF TO A FLYER

Our Women's 1s got their season off to a flyer with an emphatic 6-0 home win against Hillhead.

The ladies were quick off the mark in their match against Hillhead at Auchenhowie.  The cats scored within the first 2 minutes after some quick interplay between the midfields and forwards led to a corner. This was scored by a dragflick by Kate Holmes that sailed into the net. The next goal came from Lexi Macmillan, a new transfer for the cats, who took the ball across her body and hit it into the right of the net. Hillhead seemed to settle into the match, and managed to keep the score 2-0 going into quarter time.

In quarter two another flurry of goals came for the cats from with a second goal from Lexi Macmillian and a penalty flick given after a strong run from Olivia Finch drew out a foul, which Kate Holmes put low and left to make it 4-0. Hillhead had an opportunity on the baseline but it was well saved by Ruby Crawford. Just before halftime the cats had a corner, 2 runners broke the line, but Hillhead defended well with only 2 players and the keeper, and a good kept the score 4-0.

After halftime Hillhead had a few good balls put space by the aerial route, but the cats managed to keep them out. Another goal came from Kate Holmes at a penalty corner to make it 5-0 going into the final quarter. The final quarter secured the cats another goal, this time through Rachel Bain who played it through the keeper after some nice skills in the D. Another goal came from Kate Holmes at a penalty corner, but this was disallowed.

In the final minutes Hillhead had a break which was again well kept out by a brave save from Ruby Crawford. The match finished 6-0.

The Men's 1s dominated possession and had countless chances in their home fixture against Menzieshill. However, a 2-0 win was all they had to show for it thanks to excellent goalkeeping and some profligate finishing. Fraser Moran just after half-time and Rob Harwood with the last touch of the game were their scorers.

The Women's 2s drew a competitive game 1-1 against GHK 3s. The 4s won 7-2 against Giffnock.

The Men's 2s lost 4-1 to Hillhead 2s, the 3s drew 3-3 with Kelburne 3s and the 4s lost 6-1 to Helensburgh.
