This weekend sees a few more teams in action (although still no Men's 1s). The pick of the bunch are the Women's 1s who go to Grange (1245) and will feel confident on building on last week's solid 2-2 draw with Clydesdale.
The 3s are at home to Loch Lomond at 1230.
On the men's side, the 2s are at home to Menzieshill (1400). They also had a decent start to the season with a 2-2 draw at Hillhead and looked good at times although they had to defend well, too.
The 3s play their first league game at home to Kelburne 3s (1100). With the demise of Central 2 we now have five teams in the district who were playing regional hockey last year. This has led to some heroic efforts in rescheduling leagues and creating 'conferences' to accomodate everyone. Regardless of the administrative upheavel, Western v Kelburne is always tasty and this should be a good game.
The 4s are under new management. Fraser Bell and Joe Hutcheson have taken over in a joint leadership strategy reminiscent of Alan Curbishley and Steve Gritt at Charlton in the early '90s. Presumably they'll be fighting over who isn't Steve Gritt. Anyway, they get off to a 1230 start in their first game at Hillhead. Good luck chaps.
