We are delighted to announce that work will commence on 3rd December to upgrade the fencing around the pitch at Auchenhowie and create a spectator area on the North East (Murray Park) side of the pitch.
First of all the fencing behind the goals at each end will be repaired and heightened which should see far fewer balls lost during training and matches.
The more substantial part of the work will involve cutting the North East fencing to 1.2 metres and paving the area behind it, at the same time securing the fencing at either end and removing the dugouts. This will create a proper area from which to view games and will mean spectators no longer crowd the touchline. This will enhance the experience of watching hockey at Auchenhowie and will also be safer. It also fulfils one of the criterea to host international fixtures.
New, modern dugouts will be erected on the South West (grass) side of the pitch.
At the same time as we carry out this work, we have booked Hallidays Lighting to replace the lamps that our out on the floodlights. All of this work will be finished well in advance of the second half of the season commencing in 2019.
