Each of our men's sides enjoyed an excellent game on Saturday. The 1s beat Uddingston 8-2 at Auchenhowie. Erstwhile Western man Johnny McDonald was playing for the visitors (Uddingston is handy for his work apparently). Western looked sharp and will look to gear up with more runouts prior to their season beginning on 21st September.
Of the other home games, the 2s also won - 5-3 against Hillhead 2s - but the 5s lost 4-0 to Stirling in a game where the youngsters impressed.
Over in Dumbarton, the 3s beat an understrength Helensburgh 1s 5-0 and the 4s beat their 2s 7-0. Both Western sides look slick and will start their league seasons this Saturday with confidence.
