We enjoyed a very pleasing weekend’s work with lots of wins and some very good performances along the way.
The Women’s 1s made it five wins on the spin with their 3-0 victory over Glasgow University at Glasgow Green. Kate Holmes, Rona Stewart and Sue Campbell were their scorers in an impressively controlled display.
The 2s performed some heroics. Without a goalkeeper and fielding four youngsters from the 3s they fought out a magnificent 3-2 win away to CALA. Orla Parsons, Lucy MacMillan and Amy Li scored their goals.
The Men’s 1s took full advantage of Grange dropping points against Dunfermline Carnegie with a 3-0 win away to Watsonians. Scott Menzies scored his first ever first team goal and Rob Harwood got the other two. Western are now two points clear at the top of the table with a game in hand.
The Men’s 2s beat Dunfermline Carnegie 4-1. The 3s showed their battling qualities with a 3-2 win down in Ayr. Again, Western played with just the bare 11 and again they won. Rhury Smith and Roddy MacCallum (2) scored their goals. The 4s beat Dumfries 2s 4-2 and the 5s lost 7-1 to Helensburgh 2s.
