It was another terrific weekend with eight wins and just one defeat from nine games played.
The Men’s 1s finished off an excellent first half of the outdoor league season with two crushing home victories. Uddingston were smashed 8-1 on Saturday with goals from Rob Harwood (2), Callum Duke, Nikki Homfrey, Fraser Calder, Niall Sommerville, Johnny Christie and Fraser Moran.
Menzieshill were Sunday’s patsies, going down 9-0 to an imperious Western. Fraser Calder, Johnny Christie, Hamish Galt, Fraser Moran, Rob Harwood and Cammy Moran all got on the scoresheet. Western are five points clear at the top with a goal difference of 61.
The 2s kept up their title challenge with a crucial 3-1 win at Clydesdale. The came from behind with goals from Stuart Eadie (2) and Sam Eadie. Western are two points off the top and in good shape for a charge in the new year.
The 4s beat Helensburgh 2s 6-2 on Saturday while the 5s beat Ayr 4-1 on Sunday.
The Women’s 1s dug out a 1-0 win at home to a very well-organised Gordonians side on Saturday. Alex Stuart kept up her good form in front of goal with their winner which made it six wins on the spin. On Sunday, the girls took the lead against Watsonians through Rachel Bain but eventually lost 3-1. Wildcats finish for the winter nicely placed in fourth.
A young Wildcats second string secured a 2-1 win in Perth against a much more experienced Kinross side. Heather Nicolson and Amy Ashton in the last minute made sure the points returned to Milngavie.
It was yet another resilient performance from the ladies 3’s who gave three U14’s their home debut against a good GHK team. GHK took the lead midway through the first half but Wildcats didn’t let their heads go down and were rewarded with an almost instant equaliser fired home by Jazzlyn Sandhu.
The second half was evenly balanced with both goalkeepers working hard to keep the scoreline at 1 - 1. Wildcats clinched the match winner scored again by Jazzlyn Sandhu.
Onto next week and an away match against Blue Sox in a top of the league battle.
