Congratulations to our Men's 1s who claimed their second indoor title in three seasons on Saturday with seven wins out of seven in the Covid-truncated competition. Western thumped nearest rivals Inverleith and Menzieshill 7-2 and 8-2 respectively to lift the trophy and ensure European qualification.
The Women's 1s rounded off their indoor season in style with two victories. They beat Grove 5-2 then Inverleith 4-3 to finish in third place. Well done to the girls.
The Men's 2s couldn't dig out a win against Hillhead, instead going down 6-3. The finished fifth in their first ever season in National League Division 2.
Outdoor, the Men's 3s went down 3-1 to a Josh Cairns inspired Uddingston 3s. This leaves them in fifth place in West 1. The 4s beat Stepps 3-2 which puts them a massive twelve points clear at the top of West 3 and the 5s managed an outstanding 8-2 win over Giffnock.
The Ladies 3’s we’re away to Uddingston in a West District Division 4 match. The players quickly asserted their dominance over a well organised Uddingston. A confident performance from the youngsters was rewarded with an 8-0 winning scoreline. The goals were spread across the team with, two from Jess O’Toole, two from Melissa Thomson, Heather Nicholson (player of the match), Emily Bacon, Kate Kellock and Megan McCarry. The team maintain their impressive position at the top of the league. Onto Stepps next with another away fixture next Saturday.
