Cup Final Saturday is just 48 hours away and we have two teams aiming to bring silverware back from Peffermill.
The Men's 2s are up first in the District Cup Final. They play Edinburgh University 2s at 1200. The two teams had a fairly epic tussle at the top of the regional league and only a very tight 2-2 draw in the penultimate game of the league season finished Western's hopes of a title. This should be an extremely good game between the two best second teams in the country and we would urge you to get to Peffermill early to support our boys.
The main event is, of course, the Scottish Cup Final (1600) where the Men's 1s face Hillhead. Western are pursuing a double and a first Scottish Cup since 2011. A curiosity of this is that the only player who appeared in the 2011 final who will also play on Saturday is Johnny Christie, who featured for losers Kelburne then and will, of course, star for the good guys this year. The only other person involved in both finals is Vishal Marwaha: player then and coach now.
Obviously we want as big a crowd as possible to support the boys so get through to Scotland's second city to enjoy as much of the day as you can. There are still spaces available on the bus. See Rob Harwood for details (robharwood97@hotmail.co.uk).
