POST-SPLIT FIXTURES START HERE

15 Mar 2023

The first post-split Premiership fixtures take place on Saturday and it’s a challenging one for the Women’s 1s who go to table-toppers Watsonians (1700).

With a perfect record so far and a goal difference of +74, the reigning champions are a formidable prospect. Wildcats sit third with eight wins and three defeats leaving them nine points behind the Edinburgh side. Defensively, there isn’t much between them but where Watsonians have the edge is in their massive 80 goals scored.

Kaz readily acknowledged this. “We seem to hit every post going but we can struggle to get it in the goal so it’s fair to say that’s the area we need to improve,” she said.

“The game against Watsons will be tough as they are undefeated, and we are away from home but we have the team to shut them down. If we can capitalise on our chances, we can take points from the game.”

The Men’s 1s host fourth placed Clydesdale (1400). Western are seven points clear of the Southside club and have added confidence having whupped ‘dale 8-2 in the Autumn.

Vish said, “The squad is looking strong with no major injury concerns and we are confident we can win. The boys are in a good place at the moment.”

“Although we won the last game 6-3 I wasn’t happy with the performance as I feel we can play much better than we did.”

Elsewhere, the Women’s 3s host Dumfries 2s at 1230 and the 4s got to Uddingston at 1330. The Men’s 3s welcome GHK (1100) and the Men’s 4s are away to Stepps (1400).
