It was an excellent point gained for our Women’s 1s against league leaders Watsonians on Saturday. Becky Bruce scored their goal in a 1-1 draw in Edinburgh which meant Watsons dropped points for the first time all season. The women put in a real shift to limit Watsonians whilst creating chances themselves. This keeps Wildcats nicely placed in third and gives real encouragement for the business end of the season.
The Men’s 1s huffed and puffed their way to a 4-1 win over Clydesdale at Auchenhowie. Fraser Moran opened the scoring in the first minute with a terrific run and shot. Rob Harwood tapped in a corner just after halftime before Western conceded at the other end. Andrew McConnell and Calum Duke made things safe in the final quarter. Grange beat Uni 4-1 so Western are still one point off the leaders.
The Men’s 3s came onto an excellent game at home to GHK. 3-0 up after a few minutes they let the visitors back into it at 3-1 just after halftime then accelerated away for a 9-2 victory. The Women’s 3s beat Dumfries 6-0. The Women’s 4s lost 3-2 away to Uddingston despite a fabulous performance while the Men’s 4s came from 3-0 down to draw 3-3 with Stepps.
