WOMEN HOST GHK IN SEASON OPENER

14 Sep 2023

It’s the first fixtures of 2023/24 in the national and regional leagues this weekend as the season proper finally gets underway.

The showpiece game at Auchenhowie is the Women’s 1s versus GHK (1400). Wildcats finished third last season and GHK are a constantly improving side so this should be a good game. Our women have put in a very solid pre-season and look in shape to compete at the business end of the table again and they’ll be very keen to get off to a winning start.

The Women’s 2s are at home to Kinross at 1530 while the 4s go to Stewarton at 1230.

The Men’s 1s travel to Mary Erskine to play Inverleith (1300). Western have picked up several players over the summer so between that, departures, injuries and other forms of unavailability the boys will look quite different to the team that won the Scottish Cup in May. It’s still a very strong squad, though, and they will go to the capital with a winning start absolutely the focus.

The 2s have a tough first game of the season away to Grange 2s (1300). The Men’s 3s – emphatic 7-0 winners last week – host Hillhead 4s and will be keen to keep the momentum up with another win. The 4s are away to Rottenrow 2s at GNHC (1220). The 5s are at home to Giffnock 2s (1230).
