MARWAHA AIMS TO BOUNCE BACK
25 Oct 2012
After the horror-show of last week's 5-0 defeat at home to Menzieshill, the Men's 1s go to Titwood (1430) in search of redemption and a return to happier days. Not only was last week the first time they have lost a competitive match on the new surface, it also represents their first league defeat in over a year. Good teams don't turn bad overnight and Saturday is an opportunity to put the previous week's trauma into perspective.
Vishal rued last Saturday's defeat saying, "We were competitive for the first twenty minutes. After Menzieshill scored we lost our composure and failed to get any control or impose ourselves on the game."
He went on, "Clydesdale are always a very difficult opponent and will be very competitive at home. We have to significantly improve our performance levels and, after last week, we can only get better."
Vish shows faith in last week's squad making no personnel changes.
The 2s and 3s face off at Auchenhowie (1130). The 2s have had a reasonable first few games with a record of one win, one defeat and four draws. They hammered rock-bottom CALA 8-0 last week and will be confident of beating a 3s team missing both Graham McCartney and Barry Kane. Ally Reid makes his return to the 3s following a back injury.
The 4s play Anchor at Linwood (1230) and really could do with a point. In fact, they really could do without being completely tonked as has been the case in their past few games. The 5s are at home to Hillhead 5s (1300) and the 6s, playing some lovely stuff in the bottom division, are away to Clydeside 2s (1200).
Our Women's 1s are at Peffermill against Edinburgh University (1445). This is a tricky fixture as the students have stocked up on experienced, international-class players over the past year or so and aim to break the MCC Western/Grove Menzieshill duopoly this season. Our girls are improving all the time, though, and are capable of an upset.
The 2s and 3s are both at the club. The 2s play league leaders Hillhead 2s (1430) and the 3s face Uddingston (1600).
