NATIONAL LEAGUE INDOOR STARTS THIS WEEKEND

06 Dec 2012

The National Indoor Leagues begin this weekend and both our men and women face extremely tough starts at Bells Sports Centre in Perth.

The women debut in Division 1 on Sunday against Grove Menzieshill and Dundee Wanderers, two of the big guns of the indoor game. Our girls are hopeful of a good campaign but, realistically, they are more likely to pick up points elsewhere. They are buoyed by the arrival of Scottish internationalist Kareena Marshall who will act as player/coach and whose presence is a significant statement of intent by the club.

The boys have an equally daunting day on Saturday. They play Grove Menzieshill and Inverleith. These teams will expect to fight out the title so anything from the two games would be a massive bonus. Coach Joe Simpson looks to take a mixture of indoor experts and younger players whose focus is on development and this could be an interesting campaign for Western.

Our district league indoor teams also have games. Team 1 play Hillhead and Team 2 play Uddingston. Both games are at the Lagoon Centre.

The Women’s 2s and 3s have outdoor games scheduled at home against East Kilbride and Broomhill respectively. Whether the weather will allow either to go ahead is moot.
