GIRLS IN THE MIX

30 Jan 2013

Our Women go into the last day of their indoor league season on Sunday with fourth place and a European still – just – a possibility. Their excellent debut season has been somewhat marred by the deduction of three points for failing to provide umpires on the opening day. They must beat both Western Ladies and Inverleith and hope other results go their way. Regardless, the season has to be judged a success and we hope that the confidence they have built up over the winning means that the winning habit continues into Spring and the second half of the outdoor season.

The Men’s 2s are back in action with a rearranged fixture against Grange 2s at Auchenhowie (1200). The Chaps are out to secure a first ever Central 1 title. However, our 2s look formidable with a strong squad and a habit of bloodying noses when in the mood. This should be a cracker so get down and support Western if you possibly can.

The 3s’ season starts up next week but the 4s are in action at home against Giffnock 2s (1630). Again, Western look to have a decent squad and Neil Galloway will be confident of picking up points. The 5s are at the club too. They face Clydesdale 5s (1030) in what should be a competitive fixture. Likewise the 6s should enjoy a close game when they go to Titwood to play ‘dale’s 6s.

Both Women’s 2s and 3s are at home to Glasgow University. The 2s are at 1330 and the 3s at 1500.
