Our Men's 1s are through to Saturday's indoor final where they will defend their trophy against Inverleith. They beat Grange 3-1 in their final pool match to ensure they topped the group by a single goal from Menzieshill. Dunfermline Carnegie made them work hard for their victory in the semi-final but Western ultimately triumphed 7-4.
Alas, the Women's 1s couldn't quite manage the same. They beat Grove Menzieshill 3-0 in their final group game but were beaten 6-1 by favourites Watsonians in the semi-final. Wildcats played some nice hockey and the scoreline doesn't do them justice. They rounded off a strong indoor campaign with a win over Dundee Wanderers to finish third overall.
Another team who can be proud of their indoor efforts are the Men's 2s. They beat Kelburne 6-3 and lost 8-5 to Monarchs having been ahead with ten minutes left. Western, with a very young squad, finished fifth in Division 2 behind four first teams.
Predictably, most of the outdoor hockey fell victim to the weather. However, the Men's 4s drew 4-4 down at Ayr, having been 2-0 down, and the Men's 5s lost 5-4 to Helensburgh 3s despite leading 3-0 at half-time.
