It’s an important day at Auchenhowie on Saturday with both first teams hosting Edinburgh University.
The women, on at 1530, are just a point behind the students. With Watsonians having top spot all but tied up, the interest falls to Uni, the Cats, Clydesdale and GHK who are all within three points of one another. Wildcats are away to GHK on Sunday at 1415 to add an extra bit of spice to things.
Kaz said, “We are excited to finish off the last round of games this weekend. We aren’t afraid of anyone in the division. Edinburgh University and GHK are steady sides but we have the strength and togetherness to beat them both. The girls are looking sharp and are ready to go.”
The boys are on at 1400. Things are tight at the top of the division with Western just one behind Grange and Edinburgh University only three points behind Vishal’s men. This game is therefore crucial.
Vish said, “I think whenever we play Uni it’s a tight game. They play with lots of energy which we have to match.”
“Considering we have only been outdoor for a couple of weeks we are looking good. Sunday was a good game for us but it still identified a few things we need to improve ahead of the weekend.”
“The aim is to retain both league and cup titles and win the play-offs so we go to the EHL. It’ll be tough as both Uni and Grange have stepped up from last season but we welcome the challenge.”
On Sunday, Western are away to Monarchs.
The Men’s 2s also play Edinburgh University. In their case they are at Peffermill against their 3s (1140). The 3s are away to Hillhead 3s (1400), the 4s are at home to Clydesdale 4s (1100) and the 5s are host Greenock 2s at 1230.
The Women’s 2s play Grange 2s at St George’s School at 1300. The 3s are away to Troon (1400) and the 4s are away to Stepps (1400).
